The Balanced Plate Doctrine™

A proper dinner. Already thought through.

Family Chef is designed to remove two questions from the end of the day:

What do I cook?

and

Am I feeding my family properly?

That's why every Family Chef entrée is designed as a complete family meal. You shouldn't need to add vegetables, make a salad or find something else in the cupboard to balance the plate.

  • 1. Protein

A recognisable source of protein, appropriately portioned for adults and children.

  • 2. Carbohydrate

Something familiar and satisfying — potatoes, rice, pasta, polenta, grains or bread.

  • 3. Vegetables

At least two, with vegetables you can actually see and recognise.

  • 4. Fiber

Naturally provided through vegetables, beans, lentils or whole grains.

  • 5. Variety

Different vegetables, colours, legumes and leafy greens are deliberately worked into the meal.

Family Chef Balanced Plate Doctrine – family sharing roast chicken, potatoes and seasonal vegetables around the dinner table.

Family food shouldn't mean children's food.

Our meals are familiar enough for children while still being genuinely satisfying for adults.

We favour approachable textures and seasoning for younger diners, while building adult flavour through sauces, braises, roasting and careful acidity.

The aim isn't to make children's food or ask adults to compromise. It's to make one proper dinner that everyone at the table can genuinely enjoy.
